conversation topics to others

Okay, I really need to get my act together when it comes to striking a conversation. I can only strike a conversation when the topic is at a low. Hopefully, I'll be able to talk to some people tomorrow. For example, I would like to tell Laurel B. (Janae B.'s younger sister) how much I support the fact that she made it on the JV Basketball team in high school and to tell her that I like to play basketball but never get to. Also, I would like to maybe talk to Emily S. and ask her how her classes are going, and if she likes seminary.

"blues rap"

Lyrics by Neil S.

Introduction: “Everyone has their down times in life, and I’m no exception. I greatly feel that these lyrics will give substantial reasons why that is.”

“After I completed middle school (da-nuh-da-nuh)

I thought I was done (da-nuh-da-nuh)

But when my parents said summer school

I knew my vacation would be no fun

I’ve got the blues, the burned by summer school, no summer time fun blues. (da- nuh-da-nuh)

“I thought I had a break this year (da-nuh-da-nuh)

Testing meant school’ld start 2 hours late (da-nuh-da-nuh)

But since I don’t drive yet

I was doomed to an empty-hall, wandering fate.

I’ve got the blues, the zero-hour stuck, burned by summer school blues. (da-nuh- da-nuh)

“Just last Wednesday morning (da-nuh-da-nuh)

I had a killer chemistry crunch (da-nuh-da-nuh)

But in all of my hurry to study

I forgot to pack me a lunch

I’ve got duh blues, the starving by noon, zero-hour zombie, no summertime fun for me blues. (da-nuh-da-nuh)

For every ride to college (da-nuh-da-nuh)

I have to ride the bus (da-nuh-da-nuh)

And I really think that because

I don’t drive, I should fuss

I’ve got the blues, the riding-the-bus, starving by noon, zero-hour zombie, no summertime for me blues. (da-nuh-da-nuh)

To make matters worse (da-nuh-da-nuh)

Many of my high school friends (da-nuh-da-nuh)

Have went different ways

So I hope that this all ends

I’ve got duh blues, the abandoned-by-friends, no-vehicle-driving, forgetting-my- lunch, zero-hour zombie, burned by summer school blues. (da-nuh-da-nuh)

I thought summer was great (da-nuh-da-nuh)

But then my sisters returned to school (da-nuh-da-nuh)

And then the snack food supply decreased

And it was starting not to be cool

I’ve got the blues, the left behind-by-friends, city-bus-riding, forgetting-my- lunch, zero-hour zombie, no summertime fun for me, nearing-getting-starved blues. (da-nuh-da-nuh)

To add to the chaos (da-nuh-da-nuh)

I have to take geology (da-nuh-da-nuh)

And I hate the fact that

I have to wake up so early

I’ve got the blues, the abandoned-by-friends, no-vehicle-driving, starving-by- noon, zero-hour zombie, burned by summer school, snack food decreased, waking-early-for-geology-blues. (da-nuh-da-nuh)

The End

good to have a light in times of darkness

Even in times when I feel down, there are sources of light beaming from around. For instance, I've been e-mailing to my Aunt Joy and she sends warm-hearted e-mails of concern to me. I don't have much friends to hang around with at school, so those e-mails can really help me out.
